So… you’re thinking about singing with the Triangle Vocal Project?

TVP is a chamber choir made up of singers from all over the Triangle who really love making great music together. Some of us are professional musicians. Some work entirely outside the arts. Some have sung in choirs their whole lives. Some wandered in through barbershop, church music, theatre, or sheer choral nerdery.

What we have in common is a love for high-level music making, collaborative artistry, and the kind of rehearsal moments where a chord locks in and everyone suddenly forgets they were tired five seconds earlier.

 We’re looking for singers who are:

• Strong musicians and confident vocalists 
• Comfortable learning music independently 
• Good ensemble singers who care about blend and balance 
• Expressive and communicative performers 
• Reliable humans who enjoy making music with other people 

We take the music seriously. Ourselves slightly less so.

Rehearsals are focused, collaborative, occasionally chaotic in the best way, and full of people who genuinely enjoy being there.

You can expect:

• Detailed musical work 
• Big dynamic swings 
• Composer deep dives 
• Occasional laughter-induced rehearsal delays 
• Someone inevitably saying “can we take that from measure 47?” 

Because we’re a chamber ensemble, every voice matters. Preparation and consistent attendance are important, especially as concerts approach.

Auditions are relaxed, low-drama, and designed to get to know both your voice and your musicianship.

• Voice samples that showcase your singing across both contemporary choral repertoire and another style or genre you enjoy (jazz, pop, musical theatre, folk, etc.) 

We’re always excited to meet passionate musicians who love thoughtful artistry, collaborative music making, and the occasional really ridiculous rehearsal moment.

Specific openings vary from season to season depending on ensemble needs.

Honestly? A little bit of everything. Our repertoire has included:

• Contemporary choral works 
• Lush a cappella music 
• Folk songs 
• Classical masterworks 
• Vocal jazz 
• Pop arrangements 
• Music that makes audiences cry unexpectedly 
• Music that makes audiences laugh unexpectedly 
• Often both in the same concert 

TVP partners with local music nonprofits and donate all concert proceeds back into the Triangle arts community, which is a huge part of who we are.  

TVP is deeply committed to supporting local music nonprofits and arts organizations throughout the Triangle community, and that mission is central to who we are.

All concert donations and audience contributions go directly to our nonprofit partners. None of those proceeds are retained by the ensemble.

To make this model sustainable, members contribute modest seasonal dues that help cover music, licensing, rehearsal materials, venue expenses, and other production costs. Dues vary by concert cycle, but are typically around $30 per season. This allows audience donations and concert proceeds to go directly to our nonprofit partners.
